Chapter 2 Virtual Lab

Low Friction Track

Uses: Investigation of position, velocity, acceleration with or without friction.

The cart can be set in motion by "throwing" it using the mouse.

When the track is tilted the cart will move under the influence of gravity. The track can be tilted up to ±12° even while the cart is moving.

Masses can be added to the cart to change is weight and mass.

A friction pad can be lowered and raised even when the cart is in motion.

An ultrasonic motion sensor monitors the position of the cart over time. The data from the motion sensor can be output to software such as Logger Pro or Excel for further analysis.
