Chapter 4.2 Virtual Lab

The Force Table - The First Condition for Equilibrium

Uses: Vector addition of forces acting on a moveable ring.

Attach weights to hangers to produce tensions in strings attached to the ring.

Adjust the magnitude of the forces by varying the amount of weight on each hanger.

Adjust the direction of the forces by varying the location of the pulleys on the perimeter of the table.

Determine the equilibraint and hence the resultant of two forces.

Create draggable vector arrows to represent the forces. These vectors are adjustable in length and direction. The scale of the arrows is also adjustable.
