When a current passes through a sequence of bulbs (or any circuit elements), the voltage drops in stages. The total voltage drop equals the sum of the individual voltage drops.
This total is approximately equal to the Emf of the battery. We'll learn later why it's not exactly the same.
Your two voltages are unlikely to both equal .75 V. The bulbs are usually quite different.
