The pencil lead is a pretty good conductor. It's not really made of lead. It's mostly carbon which is a pretty good conductor.The nichrome wire is another matter. At 10 cm, the bulb is pretty dim. As the clips approach, the bulb gets brighter. Nichrome is a conductor, but it's not as good as the other metals we tested. We'll work more with it later.
