Latin Scrabble
|
|
You CAN play Scrabble in Latin!
- Use a traditional scrabble game
- Place stickers on the tiles that will not work well in Latin such as J...W...Y
K and Z are also used
infrequently and can be replaced as well
- Label the tiles with stickers randomly with the
letters E . I . A . T . S . N . R
- Have a Latin/English dictionary handy for resolving
conflicts. (I also allow students to look up words if the game is progressing
too slowly)
- Current values on the tiles can be maintained or you
can make changes that correspond more readily with the frequency of use that
letters are used in Latin.
Use the following chart that indicates number values for Latin letters.
