A synopsis in English usually refers to a summary of a story or plot. In Latin the word refers to a summary of a verb. By writing a synopsis of a verb, one indicates an understanding of all forms of a verb without the need to write out each form. It IS a time saver!

A complete synopsis includes all:

  1. tenses ( present, imperfect, future, perfect, pluperfect and future perfect)
  2. moods (indicative, subjunctive- you may leave out vocative here)
  3. voices (active and passive)
  4. participles
  5. infinitives

For each Latin word also write out the English equivalent. Note that when a verb has a fourth principal part that ends in -urus, such as sum, esse, fui, futurus, there will be NO PASSIVE VOICE.
