Curele Magistrate

The sella curulis was an ivory stool and symbol of power. Today one is a chairman or chairwoman of a committee; a cathedral takes its name from the Greek word for chair cathedra and indicates it is the church where one finds the bishop's chair; the 'head' chairs at a dinner table usually have arms etc. In Victorian time, only one chair, the father of the family, had an arm chair.
