  Cirrostratus (cirrus,-i, m. "curl"; stratum, -i, n. "blanket") clouds are seen at the same level as cirrocumulus clouds, but are sheetlike in appearance. If you look at the sun or moon and see a halo, the halo is caused by these clouds.
