How to Make Vocabulary Flash Cards

Making a vocabulary card for each new word you encounter is an organized and effective way of building your word power. Some clues to remember whem making a note card for your new vocabulary word:

Utilize the front and back of the card.
On the front of the card, include the:
- Part of speech
- Latin Word, with principal parts
- Declension(noun) or conjugation (verb) if appropriate
On the back of each card, include the:
- English meaning(s)
- Obvious derivatives, if any
Use different colors of ink to indicate different genders of nouns. When you pick up a black-inked card, you automatically reinforce the neuter gender, for example.
Blue is always good for masculine, red for feminine.
Differently-colored cards can be used for different parts of speech.
The words "meaning" and "derivative" have been placed on these cards to guide you how to do it. You do not need to write them on your cards, as you will be well famililar with the structure of your own work.
