Groma
The Groma was thought to be in use from 600-50 BC.
The Groma was an essential tool for constructing roads and laying out the
foundation lines of buildings. The weights were used to make sure that the Groma was perpendicular
to the ground, then the builder use the "x" stucture at the top of the Groma to site a staight line between the
Groma and an object in the distance.
