| Course Description |
Latin I from KET is a full year or one-semester block schedule
high school course designed to introduce and develop basic communication
skills in the Latin language and, at the same time, encourage an appreciation
for the cultures of the ancients. The communication skills include listening,
reading, and speaking, and writing. Students follow a syllabus that corresponds
with the units of study in their textbook, Ecce Romani Level I.
The subject content of the course
is organized so as to teach students to read Latin by actually reading
and discovering the shapes of words and the structures of phrases, clauses, and paragraphs.
| Successful study of Latin will provide the student with an improvement
in his/her SAT scores and English grammar and spelling skills, as well as a tool
for learning other languages.
