Classroom Management
Please keep in mind the following general guidelines. You will be given more specific information throughout the school year.
  1. Internet -- Internet instruction as an integral part of our class. Be sure to read the technology requirements for Latin I in the "Technology" section of this notebook. The latest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape/Mozilla is required.

  2. Testing Procedures:
Please make sure that your students are exhibiting good test manners:
    1. All textbooks, notebooks, etc. are put away.
    2. All students are sitting as much to themselves as your environment allows. If they are sitting close to each other, I would suggest that the students use a cover sheet.
    3. Please remain in the room while students are taking the test.
    4. Please do not allow any conversation between students. If any student has a question, have him or her ask you. Then you can make a judgement on whether to answer it yourself or contact us at KET (1.800.333.9764).
    5. Supervise students when taking quizzes on the Internet.

  3. Types of exams and their answer guides:
    1. Tests: Download from the Internet (tests and answers). See check list of tests!
      • combined chapters' vocabulary and grammar
      • unit review
      • essay
      • final exam
    2. Quizzes: Download from the Internet or take on-line (quizzes and answers). See check list of quizzes!
      • vocabulary and grammar for each chapter
      • chapter review; see "Quaestio" Quiz which follows
      • practice grammar charts
      • cultural and mythological topics, some of which are optional
      • optional material (holiday celebrations, projects). See check list of Optional Materials!
    3. Internet: "Quaestio" is an open book chapter quiz. When taken on-line, the grade automatically goes into the Internet grading program. The quizzes may also be downloaded and printed, which requires the facilitator to enter students' grades manually. The "Quaestio" quizzes are "closed" to the students until the facilitator "opens" them at the appropriate time under the Facilitator Login.
      • review of homework questions
      • multiple choice or matching (homework grade with format similar to "Quaestio")

Please collect and file all tests and quizzes after students have viewed these exams during class time. At the end of the year, you may throw exams away after school has been dismissed. Do not allow students to keep their quizzes or tests.

  4. School cancellations may cause you to miss some of the broadcasts. If you are taping, you should set your VCR timer daily to make sure you will have a tape of each lesson.

  5. Substitute Plans: You may want to inform your coordinator/principal of the procedure for setting up this class, so that there is a designated person in the building who can take over the responsibility if you are absent. That substitute facilitator should have clear instructions for class procedures used in the set up of the class. The substitute also needs to know how to access the Internet and other equipment (key and/or passwords). A designated reliable student may help the substitute with the Internet and equipment, but please do not give any student the facilitator's password.
