Curia

The Curia was the Roman Senate House. Located in the Forum Romanum, near the 'black rock.' Here debates over policy and political intrigues occurred. The Curia was burned in 52 BCE when followers of Clodius used it as his funeral pyre. Julius Caesar had ordered its restoration which was underway at the time of his assassination. The Senate was meeting in Pompey's theatre on that fateful day in March 44 BCE.
