Tomb of Cestius
The tomb of Cestius was biult between 18 and 12 BC during the reign of Augustus. Its inscription, written on two sides (east and west) of the pyramid, reads C CESTIUS L F POB EPULO PR TR PL | VII VIR EPULONUM. Translated, it means "Caius Cestius Epulo, son of Lucius, of the viting tribe Poblilia, praetor, tribune of the plebs, one of seven state priests in charge of public banquets in honor of Jupiter. Nothing else is known of Cestius, but he left us a pyramid with which to admire him.
