I learned so much through [Latin Literature], and the rigor of the class helped me learn to write and study at a college level. The Latin AP test was one of the most difficult tests I have ever taken! The many short essays assigned in Latin Literature helped me immensely, however. I must have been prepared, because I got a 5 on the test.

Enrolling through KET/KVHS Distance Learning

What is KET/KVHS?

Kentucky students can enroll in KET Distance Learning courses through the Kentucky Virtual High School, part of the Kentucky Virtual School, a division of the Kentucky Department of Education. Up to three students may be registered for any one KET/KVHS course. If you have more than three students who want to participate in any one course, contact KET.

Only school personnel may register students. Students need to contact their guidance counselor, principal, or virtual school administrator to register. If your local school does not have information about our classes, you may contact KET at 1-800-333-9764.

The school is responsible for designating a school contact who will be a liaison between KET and the student.

Credit

Credit is granted and posted by the student's high school. Neither the Kentucky Virtual High School nor KET grant credit.

Course Fees

Course tuition fees are determined by KVHS. KET will notify KVHS when students are registered.

  • $165 per half-credit course taken in one semester
  • $330 per one-credit course or two-semester AP course

* The above fees include a $25 non-refundable course administration fee.

Kentucky students can apply for tuition assistance for KVHS courses (AP® and dual credit only) through the Mary Jo Young Scholarship, provided by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority. Postmark deadline for application is May 15, 2009.

All tuition and course materials fees are paid to KET, including student materials, instructional CDs or DVDs, and Virtual Physics Labs© software fees. Individual schools will need to directly purchase the necessary textbooks for students.

Engaging Instruction & Media

Students learn through lessons on videotape, CD-ROM, or DVD. They apply their learning through interactive activities on the course web sites or CD-ROMs, and telephone tutoring sessions for German courses.

Personal Student Attention

Our faculty provides a personal approach to learning through direct instruction, support, and feedback via phone and email.
