From this class, the piece of art that I remember the most is "The Last Supper" by Leonardo DaVinci. I chose this piece because, with it, DaVinci introduced new artistic techniques such as vanishing point, linear perspective, atmospheric perpective, and the idea of overlapping figures. This piece allowed me to see how art has changed over time and how new techniques have been passed down from culture to culture and artist to artist.

The statues of David. The different statues allowed me to see how different artists view the same subject. I like these works of art the most because it shows such a diversity in art through time and they all show amazing details.

My favorite work of art that we have studied was the Notre Dame Cathedral. I was just in awe of all of the detail of the architecture. I would like to visit the Notre Dame Cathedral some day.

I will remember the different "David" sculptures that we studied. I never really knew that there were three and that they were sculpted by three different artists. By studying these works of art, I learned the big differences in all aspects of the wo rk.

One artifact that has stuck in mind during this class is the Ashante's cultural artifact a stool. Seen as just a piece of furniture in a home, it also is said to hold the Spirit of a person. The fact that a culture can look at something as simple as a piece of furniture to hold your spirit, is amazing to me. Learning this has showed me how every culture is different and unique. Other cultures have objects that they say the Spirit goes into or place it goes to, but the Ashante's took an everyday obje ct that most people use to put there feet up on to hold your spirit. This has showed me how every culture has the same beliefs (the spirit leaves the body) but every culture has different artifacts or places for things to go.

One piece of architecture that sticks out in my mind is the castle we were given a tour of. The amount of time and effort that went into the building of this structure absolutely astounds me. It was designed that so no matter where it was attacked fr om, its assailants would always be hindered in some way. It really makes you think about how strategically brilliant the Europeans were, (and are), in the art of war.

The piece of art I will remember most from this class is Bernini's David. I chose this work of art because it is a very dramatic sculpture and it stands out to me. Although there is no color or movement to this piece of art, action is given to it by the way David is positioned and his facial expression as he waits for his chance to slay Goliath. I assume that Bernini is from a religious culture, seeing that David is a biblical hero.

The piece of artwork that i will remember the most from this class is all of the "Davids" we learned about. I never knew that there were three types of Davids sculpted by three different artists. The only David i knew of was Bernini's David. I learne d how they use action because all the Davids are waiting for their chance to fight Goliath in the battle. There facial expressions are very concentrated and tense as they wait to fight in the battle.
