Greece and Rome

PREVIEW: Greece for Visitors (Explore this site for a few minutes to familiarize yourself with history and customs of Greece.)

You will have 10 days for this EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME... and the first step is to plan the dates you'll be travelling. The tourist season in Greece has three levels--Low (April 1-May 31 " Oct. 1-31st); Middle (June 1-July 10 and Sept. 11 to Sept. 30th); and High (July 11th-Sept. 10th). The high season is the busiest and therefore the most expensive time to travel in Greece, so plan accordingly. Another way to pick a date is to choose an event or an activity to be the centerpiece of your trip.

PART ONE: What's your idea??

To travel to Athens or Santorini, you must first book a flight from your home state to Athens. (You cannot get to Santorini directly from the U.S.) There are many sites you can visit to do this, but for this assignment go to FODORS. Under Find Your Destination First--Select a World Region --choose Europe: Other. Under Then Select a Destination choose Athens. The page that appears is Fodors.Com here. If you have chosen to visit Athens, this page will give you everything you need for the rest of the assignment.

PART TWO: Getting There

To inquire about departure and arrival times, prices, and available airlines, click on CHECK AIRFARE on the right of the Fodors front page. (Note: if you've chosen SANTORINI as your destination, you will not be able to get a direct flight from the United States. Book a flight to ATHENS and then add $115.00 for the connecting flight from Athens to Santorini.)

*If you've chosen SANTORINI, add $115.00 to your travel budget for a flight from Athens to Santorini.
